Who We Are

After competing for 10 years in Ironman, marathons and cycle challenges in NZ and abroad, I always had a major issue looking after my high-end bikes. Too easily bumped or scraped in the hallway or the spare room, accidentally knocked over in the carport or on the porch by the rampant toddler or guest. Realizing this is a very real issue for high end cyclists and triathletes, I became passionate about premium bike storage and founded Velohawk.

George Bennett found his way to professional cycling first by dabbling in New Zealand’s national sport obsession, rugby, and then through mountain biking before settling on road cycling. Born and raised in Nelson, New Zealand, on the South Island, he now calls Spain home, training in the Andorra mountain ranges.

George is one of New Zealand’s top road cyclists, racing professionally around the world. His tenacious kiwi spirit and determination have made him a strong contender on the world stage, attacking the mountains and becoming a name to follow in the cycling world.

In 2021, he won the New Zealand Cycling Champs Road Race, allowing him to show off the Silver Fern on his European jersey throughout the competitive World Tour, racing for Jumbo Visma. 

In 2020, he had a stellar season, even with the restrictions of Covid, by winning the Gran Piemonte, was second in Il Lombardia, and was a key member to the Tour de France team that placed second.  He was also part of the winning squad for Jumbo Visma at the 2019 La Vuelta in Spain.

George is an inspirational partner and highly valued team member of Velohawk.

Roger Smith has a passion for New Zealand- for start-ups, sports, innovation and success stories. A partner in Velohawk, Roger has a long history of growing and promoting New Zealand businesses, including one of its unicorns, Independent Liquor, as a shareholder and key executive.

Love for his work currently finds him on the global M&A advisory board of Euronet,(a US listed international technology conglomerate) CEO of ePay NZ (a smart payments solution provider), and chairman of New Zealand blockchain company, Centrality.

With a deep commitment to the community, he has been on the School board at Shelly Park for 10 years, sits on 8 independent boards, 4 of which he chairs. In addition, he is a successful active angel investor for future thinking New Zealand and International businesses.

Emily has followed her passion for adventure and wine around the world, from Napa, California, Mendoza, Argentina to Auckland, New Zealand. Working with luxury brands and products across many different disciplines allows her to appreciate the finer details and workmanship that is sought after, timeless and coveted. As a Super Domestique for Velohawk, she works tirelessly across branding, sales, and marketing to bring bicycle storage to discerning cyclists. 

Learning the trade from the wheels up, she is slowly coming up the ranks in cycling, jet setting past the 20km mark and now onto mini fondos. Watch this space.

Aaron Pollock was the genius behind the Velohawk logo and brand image. We are honoured to have had him as part of our team and we look forward to celebrating this remarkable design within all of our brand dimensions.

Aaron was a multi disciplinary designer specializing in brand identity design, art direction and design for advertising, sound design and moving image.

He returned to New Zealand after 11 years living in the US, bringing with him a wealth of experience gained working on major international brands including GAP, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Adidas, David Yurman, Anheuser Busch, Gilt Groupe, Hilton Hotels and Target Stores. Aaron’s focus on TV art direction has lead to projects with musical stars, Carrie Underwood, John Legend, Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera.

His love for cycles, art and design can be seen through Velohawk's strong brand essence and we miss him dearly.
